Dear: ......

Re: Invitation to Join a Trade Delegation To Ghana

I am hereby extending a invitation to you and/or your immediate staff to participate as a member of a distinguished and influential delegation of business leaders and CEOs of major companies within the Wyandotte County, Kansas and our neighbors in the State of Missouri to accompany me together with Mayor Emanuel Cleaver and Chairman Peter A. Sam who are leading the Trade and Humanitarian Mission to Ghana. This Mission is a first of an annual Trade Mission to different African countries especially those that are emerging markets.

We at Wyandotte County have joined the City of Kansas City, Missouri in collaboration with the African Environmental Research Consulting Group (AERCG) a non-profit organization under the leadership of Chairman, Peter A. Sam a native of Ghana in this unprecedented initiative. Also, we are privileged to have various governmental entities supporting this effort by AERCG and Mayor Emmanuel Cleaver. These include but not limited to: The State of Missouri Department of Economic Development, the US Commerce Department and  the Greater Kansas City Chambers of Commerce and the Kansas City Chambers of Commerce.

The AERCG have layed the foundation for us to explore over thirty (30) potential “real” business opportunities (procurements, investments and export ) in Ghana. These “real” projects  have been made possible from advance preparation made by the AERCG in close contacts and communications with officials of the Ghanaian government and the private business sector in Ghana over the last six months. These “real” business opportunities are available for your review before the Mission which is scheduled for March 8 through March 18, 1998.

The nation of Ghana has being identified by leading world analyst including the World Bank as a major emerging market in Africa. The country of Ghana has a stable democratic government and very sound diplomatic and trade relations with the United States and modernized infrastructures. Ghana like several emerging countries in Africa are seeking to increase the flow of direct investment and has sought to provide adequate protection under the law (Ghana Investment Promotion Act of 1995) to foreign investors.

Your business can improve its bottom line in ways and amounts that you never imagined.  If your company is considering participating in export markets, but it  has not yet determined which markets have the lowest cost entry barriers and excellent potential for your products, goods or services, then you should consider an emerging market.  Your company should pursue the vast opportunities currently available in Ghana, West Africa.

There are immediate export and investment opportunities in the financial services, telecommunications, construction, transportation, energy,  health care, tourism, consumer goods and technology sectors in which your company may participate .

The leading business persons and highest ranking Ghanaian government officials including Parliamentarians and private in-country company CEOs will welcome a distinguished group of business persons from the metropolitan Kansas City area on arrival on March 9 through the 17, 1998 to discuss immediate opportunities in Ghana.  There will be a Trade Seminar and Round-Table conference for the delegates in Ghana. Your Company is hereby cordially invited to be part of this group.  In addition to meeting sophisticated Ghanaian business persons and the government officials responsible for the purchasing of goods and services and the approval of investment for your area of interest, you will hear presentations from lending institutions and  learn about the international financial institutions available to provide export and investment support.

As we enter the next millennium and the world moves towards globaliztion, our City and State will benefit from sound trade and commerce with emerging markets in Africa, therefore, I cordially invite you to join me in this trade mission.

In order to have all the travel reservations made for our chartered airplane, please let me know of you participation no later than Feburary 10, 1998 or you may directly contact Ms. Ruby Barnes, Vice President of Marketing, AERCG at 816/861-6186 to secure your reservation which includes a five (5) star hotel accommodation, ground transportation and the airfare which amounts to a mere $2,600 US dollars.

I hope you will accept my personal invitation to join me in this important trade Mission.

                                                                        Sincerely yours,

                                                                        Nathan Barnes
